Ingredients
cottage cheese filling
- 200g cottage cheese (soft or sieved)
- 1 whole egg
- 40g sugar (approx. 2 tbsp) or honey
- 5ml vanilla extract or a pinch of vanillin
- 15g starch (approx. 1 tsp to keep the texture stable)
Base and toppings
- 3-4 large red apples
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 30g walnuts (chopped, for sprinkling)
Honey glaze
- 50g honey
- 2 tsp warm water
- A little lemon juice (to taste)
Preparation process
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Blend the cottage cheese, egg, sugar, vanilla, and starch until a smooth, creamy mass is formed.
- Wash and halve the apples, then carefully remove the core. Using a sharp knife, carve a heart-shaped hollow in the center of each half.
- Fill the heart hollows with the prepared curd mixture.
- Sprinkle it with cinnamon and chopped walnuts.
- Place the apples in a baking dish (you can pour a little water at the bottom to keep them soft).
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the apples are tender and the curd heart "rises" and sets.
- Prepare the glaze by mixing honey, warm water, and lemon juice. Brush the edges of the warm apples for a glossy finish.
💡 Tips
- For a brighter red color, you can brush the edges with a bit of cherry or strawberry syrup before baking.
- Pair it with hot tea or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you enjoy a temperature contrast.
- Serve with fresh berries on the side to complete the festive look.
Bon appétit! ❤️
