Ingredients

  • Salt – 1 tbsp
  • Water – as needed

 

Preparation

  1. Mix the flour, salt, and water until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Knead into a firm, non-sticky dough.
  3. Shape the cookies as desired and bake until golden brown.

The Tradition of Salty Cookies
On February 15, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates St. Sargis Day – the day of love and dreams. On this day, unmarried young people eat salty cookies to see their future partner in a dream—bringing them water. According to tradition, the cookies should be prepared by the happiest person, someone who has experienced great love or is in love.
